Urology appointment(s)

Stephanie had her urology appointment today at 1:00. I had forgotten about the appointment when I said yes to a friend about watching her daughter for today. I was up way earlier then usual. I got up at 5:45 and she dropped her off at 6:15.
So, all 6 children and I went off for a little trip to the Dr. You should have seen us all in the tiny exam room. We were the entertainment for the nurses today. The exam room was a tight fit but the bathroom was even tighter. When the Dr asked me to get a urine sample from Stephanie they all said they had to go Pee. That bathroom was tiny. They all wanted to use the electric hand drier and then they all wanted to fill back up with a drink from the water bubbler outside the bathroom. They were all GREAT though and each got 3 stickers from the front desk

Stephanie is back on her medication. I had taken her off it myself at the beginning of Summer. I just did not feel good about her being on it in the Hot Summer Sun with a warning on it to stay out of sunlight. They are testing her for an infection. I do not think she has one. Her urine has been clear and she has not said she has any pain. The Dr said that she may need to get the operation to fix the reflux if I do not keep her on the medication. I asked why if she is not getting infections? and he kind of did not know what to answer. I then said wouldn’t she just need the operation if she is getting infections and her kidney is getting damaged? He agreed with that but said that he really wants her to be on the med. I agreed and he wrote out a new script.

The Dr was nice and looked into Katherine’s file also for me and answered a few questions. She has not been on her med for day time wetting all Summer and she is doing very well without it. I told him how she is still wetting at night and he wrote out a script for her a Med that will reduce the amount of pee she produces at night. I am NOT excited about this med and what it will do but if it helps her I guess it is good. She will be on it for 3 weeks and if it works then we will keep her on it if not the dose needs to go up. I am not sure if we will increase it in 3 weeks but we will see.

The med Katherine is on is called Desmopressin her daytime med was blue and only 1/2 a pill this is a larger white pill and she has to take the whole thing. The Dr said it would actually cause her body to reduce the amount of pee it made. Thankfully she is good with bribery. When we dropped the script off she saw this cute little plush kitten with magnets in it's paws. She really fell in love with it quick. We had to put it back though when we left the store. Tonight when I went back for the Meds I got the kitten and gave it to her on one condition, she had to take the pill and then she could play with her for a 1/2 hour. She was so excited and I am so impressed with her. She took the pill on the first swallow of water. She told me “I thought I was scared BUT I’m not a scarty cat no more. I’m a big girl”

A visit to Aunt Nancy's

Yesterday morning Aunt Nancy called and invited us over for lunch. Of course we said yes right away.

We had a good visit. We all had baked Mac n cheese and played some games in her living room. This was Katherine and Jennifer’s first time playing Mrs. PAC-MAN. They had a lot of fun. I got high score though (Aunt Nancy did not play and if she did we all know she would have gotten high score)

After that we went outside to see if we could find any fish in the pond. I think we scared them all away. It was a nice spot to take some pictures though. They played ball on the lawn and then we were told by a neighbor that there was a bees nest in the tree Katherine was standing near. We then decided to head over and check out the new changes that were made to the Church playground. We did not need anyone getting stung by a bee.

The playground was beautiful! The children went wild on the equipment. They climbed the rock wall, balanced on the bridge, loved the slides and hung on the monkey bars. I am amazed at the strength they all have in their little bodies. Christina hung from the monkey bars many times and had no fear. They all had great balance and strength in their legs.

While there Bumpa showed up and brought us all out for ice cream. It was yummi. We had a wonderful time visiting with Aunt Nancy.

spending more time at home

We have been spending more days at home lately. The high price of gas has slowed down our traveling activities but we have still been getting outside and playing in our back yard.

The children are all fearless now on the tree swing. They are standing on it and hanging on the rope like little monkeys. They are being monkeys on the swing sets.

weekend up North

We were invited to spend a few nights up north at our friends Denis and Elizabeth’s home. It was a beautiful time.
We went to a lake close by their home and spend the whole day. The children really enjoyed floating around in the water with their life vests on and getting ferried out to the floating dock.

Katherine made a cute Hippo in the sand.

That evening Denis made a bon fire and we toasted smoars. It was a GREAT weekend.

Happy Anniversary to us

Today is our 13th Wedding anniversary.

We decided to go out to dinner as a Family to a nice restaurant. We took my Dad along also. The food was very good. The only problem was when I was followed into the bathroom.

Stephanie was in one of her moods and whined about everything from the seeds on her bread crust to her not being able to count the hanging chandeliers before her sister.
I told her that if she could not stop we would have to leave the table. Well she then decided that Jennifer should not have her foot resting on the leg of the table and she started whining and screaming again. I told her we were leaving the table and going in the bathroom for a minute. She grabbed the chair and would not let go. Then after I got her off that I carried her toward the bathroom. She then whacked at the “Please wait to be seated” sign and just about knocked it down. We went into the bathroom and straight to the last stall (the BIG one with space in it) I set her down and turned her face to the wall saying to her that I will not accept this behavior and she will have to stay right there while Mommy breaths for a few Minutes. I told her to keep her face at the corner and I walked out of the last stall only to find a server (waitress) standing right outside that stall. She shocked me and when I said “Oh I did not see you in here” she turned and looked into the mirror above the sinks. She is the one that was standing at the “wait to be seated” sign so I know she was not in the bathroom already. I commented that I wish they had a chair in the bathroom so I could sit and relax a moment and then I said “she is being a little bit of a stinker tonight” The woman said “Oh that’s her age showing!” I said “NO she is one of 3- 4 year olds that I have and she is showing her rude personality the other two do not do this” She then said “Oh, I don’t know what to say” I then said that I also have 2- 6 year olds and they were NOT like this at her age either. She just turned and got a paper towel and dried her hands that were not wet and walked a few steps towards a Big full length mirror. I then went into Stephanie and told her I was willing to let her go back to the table if she would stop this whining and stop this bad behavior. She said “yes Mama” and I held her hand. The woman was still in the bathroom when I came out of the stall with Stephanie. She did not walk out of the bathroom till after we went out! I felt like I was being watched the whole time. Grrrrrrrr

The rest of the Dinner went very nicely and all the children got to have ice cream with strawberries and chocolate sauce after the meal.

We went home and relaxed for the rest of the evening. WOW it’s been 13 years already. I just can’t believe it.
